Prehospital Tranexamic Acid in Trauma and Critical Appraisal of Articles on Therapy

Team Journal Club would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new interns and your family members. We make every effort to make JC both an educational and a fun social event. It is important to understand the basic tenets of EBM and to develop an ability to critically appraise articles from the current literature which oftentimes get misrepresented on podcasts and social media. We will kick off this academic year with a group effort regarding how to critically appraise therapy articles from the JAMA Users Guide. In addition, we will review a recently published NEJM article on the use of TXA in the major trauma victim since the Crash-2 trial. We have previously reviewed novel uses of TXA as well as the CRASH-2 trial in the past which can be found on our website where your appraisals get posted at emjournalclub.com.

Also included is an article we distribute annually for our newbies titled: Successful hospitalization of patients with no discernible pathology”. It’s a fun read.
